Ghost Of A Sabre Tooth Tiger (GOASTT) is the outlet reserved for Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl ‘s more commercial output while working on their own more experimental projects, Midnight Sun is the third album to be released by the band.

Midnight Sun opens with the superb bass driven Too Deep, a short but perfect introduction to a wonderfully diverse collection of alternative rock music that journeys through various forms of both experimentation and familiarity warmly wrapped in the gentle fuzz of psychedelia.

The album  presents a beautifully melodic voyage of escapism  crafted around whimsical keyboards, crunching guitar riffs, strong bass lines and infectious vocals and harmonies that grows with every listen.

The strings and eastern influence on Xanadu recalls the transcendental experimentation  of The Beatles, while Moth To A Flame conjures the Syd Barrett influenced Pink Floyd.

More recent reference points overall would be Flaming Lips or Beck, capturing that same infectious sense of adventure and pop sensibilities.

The chemistry between Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl is ever evident, confident throughout what is an extremely eclectic mix of musical styles on Midnight Sun ranging from simple hard driven rock to ballad, pop and psychedelia.

Midnight Sun is a stunning collection of alternative rock music, ambitious yet delivered with ease, ingenuity and imagination. Delving into the past yet equally futuristic GOASTT present a confident and pulsating contender for album of the year.

GOASTT are currently supporting Beck on a US tour, but the good news is they will be coming to Europe in August with several dates in the UK to look forward to.
